Show + Business. It’s a 50-50 equation. A pro MC must be as good at the Business part of the Event Host role as they are at the Show. In other words, selling yourself is an essentail part of success. But there is a trick to this. Read on …
THE EVENT HOST MC SALES STRATEGY part 1
The MC Directory works hard to get your MC profile seen in Google by the right people looking to book a pro event host for their function.
We have developed an efficient website that displays the right information for the client to make an educated decision if you are the right MC for their event or not – and prompts them to make an enquiry*.
But all this great lead-up work is wasted if you cannot change the enquiry to a booking. Here is how you do it with ease.
ADDICTED TO SPEED
Speed is the name of the game when it comes to converting enquiries into bookings. Give the client a nice surprise and call them sooner than they expect e.g. immediately you the enquiry email arrives. This will create momentum and increase your chances of conversion by 25%.
Here are the first few steps if you are speaking to a bride. It’s an identical process in a corporate MC scenario.
1) Call within one hour of receiving the enquiry. Resist the temptation to SMS or email in the first instance. The bride needs to hear your excellent resonant voice. It will reassure her that you are the chosen one! Ask her if she has a moment for a quick chat.
2) Call from a quiet place minus background noise. Use headphones with a microphone. Handsfree allows you to take notes
3) Thank them for making the enquiry and verify that you are the MC who they have enquired about.
4) Confirm that you are available for the event date and confirm the time e.g. dinner or lunch?
Leave a voice message if the phone is not answered, but don’t assume that the message will be heard. Many people ignore their voicemail.
Immediately follow-up by sending an SMS that says:
Thank you for your enquiry about my Wedding MC service. I called and left a voice message.
Please reply with a convenient time for me to call you back so we can chat about your wedding reception.
In the meantime, I have emailed you a PDF** that outlines a little more about my wedding MC work.
Have a great day and I look forward to speaking with you soon
Regards (your name)
The next section will reveal if this prospective client is ready to book you or not?
*enquiry we use the UK English version. Americans will be more familiar with using the word inquiry. Sorry for any confusion.
** we will speak about the PDF in the following messages. Stay tuned.
